Topic: Craigs List

I drafted a post to Craigs List. I was having trouble uploading the photos, so I tried to Save the text part of the posting to my Desktop. I wanted to save it to avoid retyping the whole post again. After I Saved As (new name) to Desktop, it did not appear on my Desktop or in the Desktop list.

When I went to Safari History, I could bring up a blank posting form but not the partially filled out form.

Any ideas on how to Save a partially completed posting?

Re: Craigs List

The text you entered is not part of the web page, so it won't saved when you save the page.
You can copy the text and drag it to the desktop, which creates a text clipping that can be dragged back.
You can also copy and paste the text into a text document, like TextEdit.

Re: Craigs List

Thanks, Steve. That was a good solution for saving the text.
Now I have another problem: I can't get a picture onto my post.
I am trying unsuccessfully to include two pictures in a new post. I first cropped them to be as small as possible Then I dragged them to the Desktop where they kept their labels of IMGxxx. As directed in the Craigs List instructions,  I clicked on the edit/add image button. The Desktop list came up, I Chose the desired pictures. The X turned to a large O, the label name appeared there, as well as a tiny image of the desired picture. Then I clicked Continue. But it never turned  into the large picture I expected.
I thought I had followed the instructions carefully. What did I do wrong? How can I get my pictures on my post?

I gave it plenty of time to load, but it never did.

Re: Craigs List

Craigs List is running active spam reduction policy you might won't be able to upload pictures. So just share them on a good image hosting server like imagechack.us or photo bucket and post links. Good luck ..

If I upload my pics to imagechack.us as you suggest, does that mean the image will not appear on my Craigslist post? How will a potential buyer see my pic?

Re: Craigs List

You would have to make an link to the other site to display it.
It's easier to just use CraigsList to host the picture.
I tried an upload and it seemed to work.
How big was the picture you were trying to upload?
You probably need to keep it under a few hundred K.

Re: Craigs List

One picture is 3.6 mb. The other is 4.0 mb. How can I reduce their sizes to under a few hundred K?
Recently I have uploaded pictures to Craigs List of 1.7 mb and 3.3 mb. Apparently with no problem.

Re: Craigs List

Thank you for the advice you gave me after tonight's CIDER meeting to use iPhoto>Share > Export. That worked. It reduced the picture sizes to 352 kb and 1.1 mb. The pictures then loaded to Craigs List in just a few seconds.

Re: Craigs List

I am still having trouble putting a photo on Craigs List.
A photo sized 1.9 mb, 3061 pixels x 1753 pixels, would not load to Craig's List, using process: iPhoto>Share>Export. I reduced the size to 60 kb, 399 pixels x 229 pixels. It still would not load using iPhoto>Share>Export.
I previously successfully loaded photos sized 352 kb and 1.1 mb.
Any suggestions why I cannot load a much smaller photo today?
